The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with “real world” work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes, procedures, problems, resources, staff areas and people so that they become aware of the career opportunities at Nexteer Automotive. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands-on work experience in a technical environment. In addition, Nexteer Automotive gains the opportunity to find new talent to enhance productivity.

Position Type:                  

Columns & I shaft Lab Co –op student.  This position is an introductory position to the Columns and I shaft business product line.  It is an excellent opportunity for working with Nexteer’s customer portfolio. It gives the student exposure to all development phases of our programs.  This position also gives students opportunities to interact with the entire staff of engineers and managers of the Columns and I shafts product line.                                      

Position Description:

Assist in Development, Design, and Production Testing.

Write testing reports.

Coordinate testing part flow through product labs.

Assist in the development of tear down procedures.

Support lab technicians as required by test requirements.

Assist controls team with software development of new machines.

Primary Skills Required:

Full time student status in Fall and Winter Semester

Must be attending local university-Delta, SVSU, UM Flint

  • If enrolled at Delta, must be part of the ACE Co-op Program
  • If enrolled at SVSU, must be part of the SVSU Co-op Program through Cardinal Career Network

1 year of college level classes

Must have a minimum cumulative 2.7 GPA

Knowledge in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering Fundamentals

Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks

Oral and written communication skills

Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others

Basic trouble shooting skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel/Word/Powerpoint

Must have right to work in US without current or future sponsorship
